Gentle Reminder: Please Vote for AMINA RASUL BERNARDO for the N-Peace Award (voting ends November 7)
Dear Friends and Partners,
Our PCID President Amina Rasul Bernardo is a nominee for the UNDP NPeace award (Campaigning for Action category). The Women’s Allliance for Security Leadership, an international network of civil society organizations working for women’s rights and peace; nominated her. This recognition recognition of what she has accomplished over the past 30 years, is well-deserved.
She co-founded the Philippine Center for Islam and Democracy to give voice to the Muslim minority of the Philippines as well as empower Bangsamoro for peace and development.
She spearheaded and tirelessly worked to organize the National Ulama Conference of the Philippines, a national network of Muslim religious leaders.
She also spearheaded and organized the Noorus Salam (Light of Peace) into a national network of Muslim women religious and civil society leaders.
She led the development of an Islamic peace manual which has been used in the Philippines and other countries. An offshoot of this manual was one on human rights, from an Islamic perspective, which PCID and the Philippines Commission on Human Rights developed and implemented.
Under her leadership, the PCID has conducted researches and forums on radicalization of Muslims in the Philippines and South East Asia since 2002. She has also worked on empowering conflict affected communities for prevention of violent extremism.
A fearless writer, she has used her columns and articles to speak truth to those in power.
Please vote for her. You can go to n-peace.net or to vote directly use the ff link
