NewsPCID Meets Former President Fidel V Ramos Regarding Peace and PVE Conference

 

The Philippine Center for Islam and Democracy met with the Advisory Committee Chair for the upcoming ASEAN Peace and the Prevention of Violent Extremism, Former President Fidel V. Ramos, last May 5 2017.

During the meeting, Former President Ramos suggested the consideration of aligning portions of the conference with the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), since violent extremism is a complex problem, calling for a multi-faceted approach. Former President FVR then suggested looking into the problem of extremism and the weaponization of pandemic diseases. The importance of intelligence networks in the issue of addressing violent extremism was also discussed by Former President FVR.
